This float house building was built locally, for use as a church named “Living Waters Chapel”. It served this function during the 1980s before a diminishing local population could no longer muster an active congregation. It was used for several different things, having to be towed from one location to another, before Bruce bought it in 1992 and towed it home to finally become the Paddlers’ Inn Floathouse lodge.
The Floathouse Lodge building sits upon a huge raft of logs, on the ocean, and is surrounded by low level decking. The lodge has four upstairs double rooms ( 1 dbl + 1 sgl bed per room) complete with skylights, two rooms still have the original church’s stained glass windows in the gable ends.
There are two small single rooms on the ground floor adjacent to the bathroom and shower, and a spacious well equipped, communal kitchen and dining area. There is plenty of quality cooking equipment, a propane stove, large fridge, lights, and furnace. The Floathouse Lodge has large picture windows in the dining area which make sunsets, foul weather retreats, and meal times, a continual visual feast. Outside there is a covered BBQ area, as well as ample space for storing kayaks, and sitting to enjoy the view.
