And domestic tragedy
[Kayak] Bill climbed up and out
Past mountains of resistance
Seeking and laying a path
Ascending through recognition
Of his own unique route.
Shying from the fame
Of notable rockface climbers
He launched
Paddle in hand
Provisioned for time enough
To learn
The truth and splendor
Of personal independence
Entwining himself to earth and sea.
His perspective
Ethereal and grounded
Recognized and envied
By those who wish
But can not follow
He lived
Where heaven and earth collide
Becoming once
